Ethnological Society of London

Biography The Ethnological Society was formed from a breakaway faction of the Aborigines Protection Society and became one of the leading scientific societies of England where ethnologists and archaeologists could meet and discuss topics of interest. In 1871 it merged with the Anthropological Society to form the Anthropological Institute (now Royal Anthropological Institute qv].
