Biography According to the accession book he carried on his saddler trade at Boughton near Faversham, Kent, from 1898 till 1937, and subsequently at Green Street, Teynham, Kent. W. Lodder was 14 years old when he was apprenticed, 17 May 1887. He then earned 6d per week. At the age of 21 he earned 1/6 per week. The Museum has his apprentice's indenture which was given in 1954 after his death. He is listed in the 1901 census as William I. Lodder, aged 29 born in Margate Kent, living in Boughton Blean, Kent and described as a 'manager harness maker' [Alison Petch [as part of 'The Other Within' project 2006-9] 13/02/2007]
