Career Archaeologist / Academic

Biography Junior demonstrator, Department of Geography University of Oxford in 1911, in 1913 he set out on three year expedition to Easter Island with Mr and Mrs Scoresby Routledge but quarrelled with them and returned, in the same year he went to Sudan to work on the excavations of Henry Wellcome. He also excavated in England, after the war he became first archaeology officer for the Ordnance Survey, he held this post till his retirement in 1946.
