Biography Born in Oxfordshire and lived in St Clements, Oxford from 1836. Worked in the brickfields until rheumatism forced him to retire and earn his living selling fossils he had found in the brickfields and quarries. Percy Manning [qv] commissioned him to collect folklore on his travels some of which he donated to the museum together with stone tools collected by him during his fossil hunts [Alison Petch [as part of 'The Other Within' project 2006-9] 14/12/2006]
