Biography Accum & Garden of 11, Old Compton Street, Soho, London, chemical and scientific equipment manufacturers. Frederick Accum was an assistant to Humphrey Davy at the Royal Institute. He became chemist to the Gas, Light and Coke Company. As his trade expanded he took in Alexander Garden, one of his own students, as a business partner and the firm of Accum and Garden became well known.
