Biography After being born and educated and working in South Africa, Howes started work at Kew as an assistant in 1926. He served as Keeper of the Department now known as economic botany until 1966. He travelled widely while he was at Kew [Alison Petch [as part of 'The Other Within' project 2006-9] 31/01/2007]
