Biography Nothing is known of this donor except that he was resident in Hartlepool according to the accession book and seems to have been an expert in and collector of ancient surgical instruments. In the 1901 census there is listed a John S. Milne aged 29 born in Scotland and living in Durham, Hartlepool as a surgeon who is presumably the same person [Alison Petch [as part of 'The Other Within' project 2006-9] 13/02/2007]
