ENGLAND: THE OTHER WITHIN

Analysing the English Collections at the Pitt Rivers Museum

Top 10 objects from Sussex

All the objects from Sussex (East, West and unprovenanced) have been included together. There are a total of 4,039 objects from Sussex of which over half are pottery, mostly sherds. Like stone tools many pottery sherds have not been accurately counted upon accessioning and the total number of many entries has had to be estimated, this means that these figures are only guides not accurate. However it is likely that, like stone tools, there are many sherds in the collections, possibly more than are currently recorded.

You are reminded that all artefacts can be classified as more than one type or class, a drinking cup is classified as both a Vessel and Food.
