ENGLAND: THE OTHER WITHIN

Analysing the English Collections at the Pitt Rivers Museum

Top 30 settlements in Oxfordshire by population 1901

Alison Petch,
Researcher 'The Other Within' project

Note that several places in the following list eg Abingdon, Wantage etc, were not actually part of Oxfordshire in 1901 (they were part of Berkshire and did not become part of Oxfordshire until 1974). However, to compare relative place sizes in 1901 and 2001 I have projected the post-1974 borders back.

* 1901 figures not available, it is assumed that there was not much change in the population, but this could be a false assumption.
