Photographic collections:

Mrs Ettlinger gave a number of times to the photographic collections of the Pitt Rivers Museum according to the relevant Annual Reports for the Museum:

1964-5
She gave a photographic collection. This is now accessioned as 1965.5.1.1-600 It was described as '600 images in five boxes, relating mainly to arts, crafts and folk practices in Great Britain, but also including transport, farm life and architecture' [from accession book entry]. It is obviously her own working file of interesting images taken from magazines, her own photographs and photographs of friends, mounted on index cards and kept in boxes. As many of these deal with church architecture it may well be that it was used during her research into Monuments of Folklore in Oxfordshire (which examines church architecture in the main). However, it does include other topics as well. It is not clear why Ettlinger gave away her working material at this date, some thirty years before her death and whilst she was still active in examining folklore. 258 of these cards relate to English material (just under half).
